I attempted to remove and replace, but Firefox blocks this effort after removal and before the download.

It's completely unresponsive? Just need a little more detail. I installed the 1password extension for 72.01b and it works on my end.
</p><p>Have you tried removing and reinstalling? You should be able to log back in and restore all your saved passwords without losing your data if you do this.
