Stopping app request from loading on homepage in FireFox

Posted

Every other time or so that I refresh my homepage, I get this annoying banner requesting me to download a Microsoft News app. How can I get this to stop happening? NOTE: I am using the uBlock Origin extension, and this is just about the only "ad" that gets through. See attached photo for the issue described.

Hi mike_the_wino, thanks for the screenshot.

I assume that when you click "No thanks" one of the servers used by the MSN site records that in a cookie to avoid bothering you with it again. Apparently that cookie is not being set or is not surviving long enough to avoid you seeing it repeatedly.

You could ask on a uBlock forum whether there is a filter to remove it. You probably wouldn't be the first person to ask (unless it just started).

For example, the extension's support site: https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/
