After update to OS X Catalina no right click

Whenever I use something like Google news I would right click on a link and "Open in a new tab", working my way down the page of links. I've updated to Catalina and now right click might work for two or three but it may not. If I go to another program and back to firefox, right click won't work. If I multi-click on the right button occasionally a new tab will open with the link but I never again get the menu.

This started after I updated to Catalina. It's the same on an iMac, Mac Pro, two different mac minis and a mackbook air.

I have started in safe mode. I have deleted all add ons. It works for a time or two but then goes back to no right click available.

Update: I keep 10 desktops going at the same time. Two of those are for firefox.

I tell catalina to keep firefox "Options/This desktop" on desktop 5, then open another firefox window and drag it to desktop 4.

Now I've got desktops 4 and 5 with firefox. If I'm working on desktop 5 with firefox, everything goes as normal. Right click menus work, etc.

If I go to desktop 4 and right click on any link it will probably work once. After that nothing. Same with the Bookmark toolbar. Bookmarks from the File menu work fine, after once used the bookmark toolbar no longer shows anything.

I found out purely by accident that even though I'm working on desktop 4, all right click menus and the toolbar bookmarks that drop down are showing on desktop 5 where they're hidden.

I turned off "The desktop" and now things work as expected. If something happens and I restart Catalina, my two instances of firefox will open in desktop 1 and I have to drag them back to where they belong.
