set google.co.uk to be default search engine
I can't believe this is still a problem, I am upgrading to a new laptop and so have to go through setting google.co.uk to be my default search engine - again!? - but I can't seem to make it happen. Can someone please give me the steps again. and can someone explain why it isn't possible to just choose google.co.uk to be the default - there's a whole world out there that isn't in the .com space

Hi waywar, as you probably know, Mozilla has an agreement with Google to make Google the default search engine. I don't know the details, but since google.com is used for all regions, I'm assuming Google wanted it that way.
There are a few different sources to add on a search engine:
- Add-ons site, for example: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/googleuk/ (this one gets UK suggestions, the other three I checked get .com suggestions, if suggestions matter)
- Mycroft project: https://mycroftproject.com/google-search-plugins.html

Thanks - I didn't know Mozilla had that agreement and I certainly don't understand why they would agree that! but the first suggestion was exactly what I wanted.
