Last week Adobe Flash stopped actuating/working with Firefox and there is no black box in the address bar or any place else that I see that asks me to activate it. I have it set as Always Activate on the Plug-Ins page but that isn't helping. I checked and have the most recent version. I had to go through several steps to activate it but it does work in Chrome. I run Win 7 and Firefox is my default browser. Please advise how I can get Flash to work again as it is hampering a lot of my activity on the web. Thank you.

And, at no time do any sites ask me to enable Flash.

Like I've been saying : I don't get asked to enable/allow Flash either ....

I think that I should clarify something I said earlier in this thread.

It is not the sites that ask me to enable Flash. It is a big grey box that Firefox displays where the Flash content would be, with that "Lego brick" icon that denotes plug-ins and "Run Adobe Flash" under that. The same icon also appears in the address bar with a blue dot, and clicking on either brings down the "Allow/Don't Allow" selection.

My feeling is that the Firefox developers took a harsh "all Flash is bad, therefore we are going to disallow it even if the users hate it" position. Clicking on "Allow" should bring down another choice for "Only this time" and "Always on this site" and that is what I am expecting in a future update. And if that either does not happen or the future turns out to be overly long, I'll be using something else.

I can't possibly be the only Firefox user who feels this way. I didn't give the developers my permission to decide this for me without even asking for my input.

I tried that and the game will not finish loading. I see it and it says loading and it has been over 5 minutes so this won't work for me. Sorry.

I am as frustrated as you are because everything was peachy til the week before last. Obviously something has changed n FF. I thought I was the only one and I did something wrong when I deleted cache and cookies because I thought that was the issue.

Someone from Mozilla should be answering this as you've all tried really hard to solve it and it is obvious I am not the only one with this issue.

Pages not loading : that's another problem, though.

Would you please take a look at these articles and see if you can find an answer there :

and :

Neither of these articles were helpful ?

If Flash content is embedded in an iframe then Firefox might not show the Lego block icon on the location bar and you may not notice that Flash is used.

Sorry have been quite busy out of home so will catch up with this over weekend. Still can't use it on FF tho. Chrome ok.

I think I may have confused the issue by adding a related issue to the original one. Let me try again:

1. I solved the "Flash not working" by downloading and reinstalling the plug-in from Adobe's website. 2. I do see the Lego block. In fact, it correctly has a little blue dot on it and at the same time there is a grey box on the page where the Flash content is, saying "Run Adobe Flash". 3. Clicking on the Lego block or the grey box brings the pull-down option from the block, just as it always has when Flash was disabled (that used to happen periodically after an update).

Here is what changed, and which I hope someone can bring to the developers' attention:

There used to be an option for "Always allow" on the pull-down. That is no longer there, in what I can only guess was the developers' zeal to disassociate Firefox with Flash. But that causes a headache for users like myself.

I play Flash-based online games at Shockwave, UClick, and MindGames. The way the option is now configured, I have to "allow" Flash on all three sites every single day. (Screenshot of pull-down with restrictive choices attached.)

I would like, at the very least, an option to always allow Flash on specific websites, which the developers did not include as an option. (I also think that in doing so, they improperly overrode my own authority as the end user.)

If I don't see such an option in an update -- if not the next one, than one fairly soon -- this is going to drive me away from Firefox.

The option to set Flash to "Always Activate" has been disabled; not only in Firefox, but in all modern browsers.

Adobe has announced the "end-of-life" of Flash at the end of 2020, back in 2017, thus giving sites that still use Flash ample time to switch to something like HTML5.

All the more reason, IMHO, for there to be an option to "always activate" for user-specific sites.

The end of 2020 is still over 15 months away. I doubt I am the only user who will be very tired of clicking "allow" every day, on three sites for that period of time.

Browsers are supposed to assist us in using the Internet, not unilaterally make decisions for us as to how.

I agree with you - I think it's premature and user-unfriendly to disable the option. It's not just Firefox though ....

I did that right after the post here that you responded to. Thanks for making the suggestion in case I hadn't thought to do that ... and also for those who may want to submit similar feedback and don't know where.
