How to disable the system handler and restore default system applications for file downloads?

When using the GTK_USE_PORTAL=1 environment variable to enable KDE integrated file open and save dialogs through XDG portal, Firefox loses the default native system applications and only shows System Handler when asking to do with downloaded files. For example, Firefox normally has an option to use Ark (KDE's archive program) for Zip files, with the XDG portal enabled I have to either use the System Handler, which does not work on my system, or manually specify the path to the Ark executable. Is there a way to disable the System Handler while still using the XDG/GTK portal for native file save and open dialogs?

FYI I am not not using the Snap or Flatpak Firefox or the one from Debian repos, I'm using the regular standalone .tar.xz Firefox.
