Is there a way to have new tabs open as blank?

Chosen solution

I accidentally found a way to get blank tabs in Android Firefox.

Following a tip from a response to a different question https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1264102

Started with menu button > Settings > General > Home Tinkered with the choices available, like so:

After tapping those settings in, backed out of the settings menu, then clicked the + button at the right end of the tab bar, and up came blank tab:

Hi

I am sorry, but I do not think that is currently possible in Firefox for Android.

Seburo,

Thank you for responding. I suspected the answer you provided and I do not doubt what you wrote. As a matter for the record, I will mark this question solved by your answer.

However, now I want to try asking my real question. I did not feel right asking this until I verified my suspicion that new tabs in FireFox Android defaulting to blank is not possible, even though it is possible with FireFox on Windows or MacOs. I use an addon to get new tabs defaulting to blank on MacOs.

So here is my real question: Why is it possible to make a FireFox addon for making new tabs default to blank possible in Windows and MacOs, but not Android?

I am posting this additional question as a separate item in FireFox help.

Thank you for providing a straight forward word of truth to answer my question.
