Hi Team,

I have just installed Linux Mint 19 alongside Windows 7, and installed Linux Firefox 67. Windows also has 67. I pointed the Linux Firefox to the Windows Profile file, and it looked exactly like the Windows version. When I went to access websites that have stored login names and password, the Login names were there, but the passwords did not show. When I entered a password again, and asked it to Save, it proceeded and logged in. When I logged off, and tried to login again, the Login name was there, but no password - had to enter it again. I have looked through all of the relevant posts in Support, and tried several options, but none work. Would appreciate some assistance is solving this one please. Thanks plml

If you rename or remove pkcs11.txt then Firefox should create a new file. If you copies secmode.db (used previously) then remove this file as well.

Note that prefs.js might also contain absolute path names.

Are passwords also broken now when you access the profile using Windows, or only when you access it using Linux? (I'm not sure why it should matter.) ???

The passwords show and work in Win 7. The passwords do not show in Linux. Same profile file.

Do you mean that you share the same profile between Linux and Windows?

This might not work because of pkcs11.txt that contains an absolute file path.

Thanks co-rel. Looks like that might be the problem.

I checked pkcs11.txt and it refers to the Windows path, where the profile was copied from.

Everything else seems to be compatible swapping between Firefox for Windows & Linux.

Is it possible to fix this problem please? I am certain I'm not the only one experiencing this, given the publicity about Win7 users migrating to Linux.

Do I need to report this, or is this post sufficient?

Thank you. plml

I renamed pkcs11.txt, and this has enabled a workaround thank you.

I now have one version of pkcs11.txt for Windows, and another for Linux, which need to be manually renamed when changing between Windows and Linux.

I feel the optimum way is to have Firefox Linux and Windows share the same profile file for a whole lot of reasons. We also share the same profile for the latest Thunderbird on Windows and Linux without any problems.

Could you resolve this issue in a future Firefox release please  ?

Thank you. plml
