ISP re-created email account and when logging on to retrieve emails, all emails (and user created folders) gone from PC.
Migrated our ADSL service to NBN (National Broadband Network). This is Australia BTW.
The ISP did not move my wife's mailbox. I rang and they recreated the mailbox on the NBN account. I was provided a new password and used a third party email client Modzilla Thunderbird to retrieve emails. Then realised when looking Thunderbird all folders were EMPTY and extra folders she had created were gone. They setting we use is "remove" email from webmail server.
The only folders now there are... Inbox Drafts Sent Deleted
What has happened? It appears logging to the newly re-created email account has "triggered" a mass delete maybe.
I'm thinking has a new profile been created or has it 'deleted' 3 years of emails and folders (some very important) stored locally on our PC.
Strange thing is the address book entries are still there.
Do the emails/folders still exist on our PC somewhere? I've been looking into Thunderbird help pages trying to locate "profiles" or mailbox. So far nothing.
I've spoken to ISP they are attempting to restore account but because we 'remove' emails from web server I'm not confident they will retrieve much history.
Before you ask there was no regular backup. In hindsight silly not too. Anything can happen to a PC so need to be mindful of creating a backup in future.
