Hello Firefox team.

I am pretty sure I'm not the only person with this issue. This is not a rant but a breakdown of my experience with it. So please read it and do something about the problem.

Today when I turned on my PC and opened FF (first thing I do) the first thing that struck me was that ALL of my addons are disabled for no good reason and I have to "find replacements" for them. That just removes at least an hour of my time only to set up a browser that was fine and dandy just yesterday, without an option to keep the old version or postpone the decision. My work heavily relies on some of those addons, so it's incredibly irritating. Even worse, when I click "find a replacement" on one of them, it doesn't actually look for replacements, it simply lands me on the addons page. So that means I have to re-establish my whole environment with new addons. Some of them have no replacements. And even then, when I find a replacement for the first one in my list: AdBlock Plus, it shows me a few other AdBlocks (again, my choice of ABP is because it has some features other adblocks don't have), it says "Download failed. Please check your connection". At which point I don't even know what to do.

This situation is completely ridiculous and backwards, there was no update or warning that you're changing some policies and since so many addons don't work (even themes!) I can only assume this came as a surprise to many addon devs as well. This looks pretty much like the transition to FF 57 except it's way worse because it came out of nowhere and I don't see a way to get back my FF customization.

So please, FF team... oh god, I can't even simply ask you to do it properly at this point, it's completely f**ed up. Please fix this mess of a situation asap. FF is already being far behind Chrome in popularity and I wish so much it was a technically superior product, yet mismanagement like that only puts it into an even worse position. And as an extremely passionate and dedicated fan of Mozilla, I fear the worst, that I could at some point switch to another browser.

Chosen solution

Currently there is a certificate issue at addons.mozilla.org, which causes this problem. It is being worked on at the moment, Mozilla is tracking the problem in Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1548973.

I really hope this gets resolved soon enough. And you could at least make some sort of a statement on your blog or e-mail registered users about the problem and possible workarounds if there are any.

Hi ice.ivanov,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience here.

You can track updates to the issue through this post: https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/certificate-issue-causing-add-ons-to-be-disabled-or-fail-to-install/39047/

There aren't any workarounds at this time, but there is a team completely dedicated to getting this fixed.

Sorry again, George

Hello Firefox Team

Well we are having the same issue as other customers. Kaspersky Protection could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled. This was an extension and has been verified and not it is unsupported.

Firefox team what is going on here, I was able to enable it on Explorer, but it is completely gone on this Firefox.

I contacted Kaspersky and they tried to help me by clicking onto Install Update from File, but when we did this, we get the add on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupted. The tech sent me a link to try and reset it, the tech said they are receiving a lot of calls from customers who are having this problem with Firefox.

I am currently using Windows 7 pro, and have Kaspersky Internet Security 2018 and will be in the process of upgrading to 2019 and then to Windows 10 Pro.

Firefox team please fix this issue.
