Reader View always requires one Refresh to start working as expected

Reader View always gives you a blank page the first time you use it after starting the Firefox app. From that blank page, if you click Refresh, the page will reload in Reader View, and Reader View works as expected on all pages. However if the app restarts, indicated by the Firefox logo splash screen when launching, Reader View will again produce only blank pages until you this Refresh workaround.

To reproduce: Switch reader view off in any tabs it is currently in use. Terminate the app and relaunch Go to several different sites / pages, and try the Reader View on each. You will get only a blank page. Click Refresh from any of those blank pages. Reader View should now work as expected wherever you turn it on.

I’ve been using the iOS app for several months and have assumed all this time that Reader View simply never works. This has definitely deterred me from using the app more frequently. If I wanted to read something long, I have always switched back to Safari. I only discovered this workaround in documenting the steps for this post. I’m really glad to have this functionality, I hope it can get fixed so it starts working normally for everyone.

Issue is present on both iPhone and iPad. iOS 11.4.1 Firefox for iOS 16.2 (14898)
