False Archive emails with 01/01/1970 date

I've been using Thunderbird for a few years without (knowingly) Archiving anything. There are Archive directories for 2014-2018 but all are empty. I've just noticed a 2019 Archive directory with a few (12) archived emails and more 2200 blank emails with no subject. What are the blank emails, how were they created, do I have a virus, how do I stop them?

I'm on Windows 10, Thunderbird 60.6.1 with gmail & Outlook.com POP email a/cs
