I'd like to be able to open links that are contained in emails right in Mozilla, in a separate tab. Can I do that? Thanks

Chosen solution

There used to be am add-on that allowed that, but thankfully it ceased to be maintained after version 3.

While Thunderbird is built on the core of firefox, it is not tested as a web browser and quite frankly is a less secure browsing option than Firefox because of the different ways things are implemented

If you truly want an integrated mail client and browser, seamonkey may be a better fit for you. https://www.seamonkey-project.org/

SeaMonkey is the continuation of the Mozilla suite that was split to make Thunderbird and Firefox separate applications.
