To open a new tab with the same page : press the Ctrl key and click the reload button.

The only way I can think of to open a new window with the same page is to copy the URL, hold the Shift key and paste the URL.

Also, you asked this question earlier here -- https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1256436 -- or did you mean without the back button history in this case?

I should have checked your system details before posting; then I would have noticed that you're on Mac OS, and I would have told you to press Cmd instead of "Ctrl" (sorry .... ).

Would like to open a new window with the same page as the previous page. Useful when wanting to save the original page and make a copy to following links, etc. Doing the same with a Tab would also work.

Ctrl key and reload button give a menu with no choice to copy the page. Am I missing something?

Yes, there is, but that won't work in this case, as the keyboard shortcut is Cmd + R ......

Jscher2000, Yes, I asked it before but didn't get a good answer, now I have two choices that work. I would have preferred a simple option in the preferences that provides for every new page a copy of the previous, but that's not available.

Please bear with me, I'm learning. While Firefox is a good browser, it's very complicated and I have yet to find a good tutorial.

It should - what cor-el says here works even faster than what I suggested earlier .....

You press Cmd + L and you'll see the URL of this page turn blue (another way to do it is to click the URL). Then you press Shift + Enter, et voilà : you'll see this page in a new window ..... (to open the same page in a new tab you press Cmd + Enter)

McCoy, Figured it out. It does make a copy of the current page, but puts it in the background, not another tab or visible window. Is there a way to do this and create another tab to go back and forth? But I can work with what you explained. Thx!

That's not true ....

To open that URL in a new tab, you'll have to click on the plus sign to open a new tab and then paste the URL in the address bar. To just press Cmd and the reload button is way faster.

You say that these tabs open in the background :

Maybe you could check this setting in Preferences => General => under "Tabs":

Make sure that "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" is checked.

Note that even on Mac you need to use the Ctrl key and not the Cmd key (Ctrl+Enter). Holding Shift in addition opens directly or in the background.

I didn't even know Mac had a Ctrl key - my bad ......

This is a special exception only for the location bar on Mac. Normally you use the Cmd key when on other platforms the Ctrl key is used, but they decided to make this work the same way on all supported platforms.

Good point, but doing the + copy and paste is just WAY too slow. Im sure there's many of us that want to copy a page to respond to it later but not loose the original page. I wish there were an option like Safari has... simply hit Command N, and it copies. Super simple.

For now, looks like the best way to copy a page is to click on the tab holding control and hit duplicate. A bit slow but works.
