When I click on the x at the last tab on the far right of the tabs, Firefox closes the program or shrinks it. How do I close the far right tab only?

Thanks much!

To close a tab, use the X on the tab itself. Using the X at the far right of the window closes that window.

I hope in the next version of Firefox, they can keep the far right tab and the + sign for opening a new tab away from the close app icon.

You can set this pref to false on the about:config page to prevent closing Firefox when you close the last tab.

  • browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
