Two messages disappeared from my Inbox (gmail imap) after I responded to a warning about threads (an option I do not use) and I see them in All messages
I would very much appreciate anyone's assistance in resolving the following problem. Yesterday, I received two messages in my Thundernird gmail Inbox (imap) - I even replied to one of these (and I have the mail in my Sent messages quoting the original mail). I saw a warning at the bottom of Thunderbird about messages no longer showing in thread (or something like that) and I hastily (and obviously stupidly...) responded positively to that (thinking that it is no issue since I do not use the threaded view in Thunderbird). After a while, these specific two messages disappeared from my Inbox (and although I see them in All messages I cannot copy / move them to Inbox). In the web view of my gmail, the thread is full including the missing messages but I cannot download them again. I forwarded the messages to myself, but I need to understand what happened (and how it could possibly be undone) so that I avoid being so stupid in the future. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Additional System Details
- User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/73.0.3683.86 Safari/537.36
The problem continues: again, I can see a message (as of 23/3/2019) in my Inbox when I check gmail from the web, but this message is nowhere to be found in Thunderbird (neither in the Inbox, or All messages or Spam). I am starting to worry that I am losing gmail messages unless I check in the web application - and some of them may be important. Unless I figure out what is going on I will start losing trust on Thunderbird... Thanks in advance for anyone who will be willing to reply...
Try View (Alt-V) - Threads - All
Dear Christ1, thanks for your reply. All threads is already enabled...
Perhaps you have inadvertantly selected to ignore the thread or subthread ?
