Okay, I'll try to keep this simple!

A few weeks ago I uninstalled a user's Thunderbird from their computer and set them up in Outlook. Yesterday they came to me and said that they can't see anything from before I switched them over and their address book is missing. So I posted something to the community here yesterday to see if there was a way the mbox profile lived on after the uninstall. Someone replied and provided me with the article about profiles and I was able to find it (which helped), so now here's my question.....

Since it's been a few weeks from when I switched them to Outlook, is there a way to merge old emails and the address box from the mbox file to the current pst file in use without overriding anything and severely messing everything up?

Hope someone can shed some light on this sticky situation. Thanks!

I suggest you use google to locate an importer that will import mbox files into outlook. I understand outlook is basically crippled when it comes to importing from other mail clients, when Thunderbird has no export that leaves you with a third party tool.

Note that mail is stored in text based mbox files. (basically stacked EML files) and address information is in what is called mork format. (netscape proprietary I think)

You might be able to export from Thunderbird into a more useful format for you where mail is concerned with the import export tools. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

But basically you are on your own.

I hope the change was based on need and not on what you know. So often I see serviceable and functional software replaced with Microsoft because that is all the service technician knows, leaving the customer to grapple with unfamiliar software that they do not understand or in some cases like.
