How can I get the old Firefox (orange and blue) icon back on my Mac dock?

I just updated my iMac to Mojave (biggest mistake of my life!). I also updated Firefox to its latest version as well. The orange and blue fire/fox around the blue sphere is gone and in its place is a piece of paper with pencils in an "A" shape. I keep clicking on the wrong icons when I want to use Firefox because my 53-year-old eyes can't see the new icon as easily. Please forgive my oldness, but is there a way to get the old one back?

Chosen solution

Hi youngster! Close Firefox, then try downloading using a different browser from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

(Your existing version will be overwritten with the latest one and hopefully a correct icon; doing that should not remove any of your data).

Have you tried removing the icon from the dock, and then re-adding it?

Yep. Didn't work.

Hello Scribe of CyberWisdom! I already have the latest version of Firefox. Do I still need to download an older version? If it comes down to it, I'll choose better security over an icon. I was just wondering if it's possible to change it back. These changes programmers are making all the time make it hard for those of us who rely on routine. Every time I update I have to spend weeks relearning everything. Thank you for the youngster designation. You made my week!

You have v64.0 and the latest is a minor update to 64.0.2 The download should not be an older version - it should be the latest. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/

(It is unwise to go back to older versions because it can sometimes cause data loss).

If you are happy with leaving the icon as it is, you don't need to do anything.

Scribe, oh Scribe! You now have a parking space at my house for Most Valued Genius! It worked! Thank you ever so much! My beloved icon is back. I reloaded Firefox from Safari and when it asked if I wanted to overwrite a newer version, I just clicked "yes" and it worked. All of my stuff still seems to be there. My old eyes thank you! And thank you, too, Tyler, for taking time out of your schedule to respond. You're both so kind. My creaking bones are doing a happy dance!

Note that this was just a bug, we love our icon too and the A with a file is just Apple's default icon. Glad it works!
