On Android the first (Firefox Home) tab regularly freezes

No link works on the tab, and other apps calling Firefox with a URL fall back to another URL. Tapping any of the links on the Firefox Home page creates the tap animation, but has no further effect. The link is not opened. Tapping "back" has no effect either. The tab and the app do not close.

I have two workarounds:

1. Kill the first tab. Firefox creates a new one, which works for a time.

2. Leave the unresponsive tab in place and always have a second Firefox Home tab.

The second workaround seems to be better, because it survives apparently for a long time.

But obviously I would prefer to have this defect repaired. Is there anything I can do to help with pinpointing the cause?

Phone: OnePlus 6T with up-to-date original factory-installed Android 9: OxygenOS

Firefox: Current version, always updated
