Auto-resize image panel extends off screen so buttons not visible

Posted

When sending large attachments e.g. photo images, the resizing window sometimes extends below the bottom of the screen, so the various option buttons are not visible. There seems to be no way to scroll to make the buttons visible. All I can do is choose OK by hitting Return. I'm using a MacBook Pro running Yosemite, Thunderbird 60.4.0. This didn't happen with the previous version of Thunderbird.

Image resizing is provided by an add-on, so if there are problems, you should first state which add-on and version you're using. Some possibilities are:

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/auto-resize-image/

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/shrunked-image-resizer/versions/4.4.8

The add-on author explains 'debug mode' on the add-on website, but as a first attempt, I would try this: select Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Open (or Show) Folder to open the profile folder, close TB, rename xulstore.json to xulstore.json.bak (rebuild toolbars and window controls), then restart TB and see if the resizing window is different.

I emailed the author and got this response:

Please dig through the settings and choose horizontal layout.

It can be found in TB as follows:

-Tools -Add on Preference -Auto resize image

Click on the "interactive mode" tab and it's at the bottom of that screen. It worked for me!
