Hello Ellaryk,

Would you please take a look at these articles :

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatically-fill-address-and-credit-cards

And :

https://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/63915/how-to-use-firefox-autofill/

What you could also do :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the address bar and look for the preference :

extensions.formautofill.available

and make sure that its value is set to on

(if you had to change it, then close and restart Firefox)

extensions.formautofill.available is set to detect. extensions.formautofill.creditCards.available is set to false extensions.formautofill.creditCards.enabled is set to true

Address autofill is working. Should the above setting be changed?

You could change the value of the first pref to "on" (see my first post) and the second one to "true".

(don't forget to close and restart Firefox afterwards)

By the way : good for you to find those preferences  !

So I changed extensions.formautofill.creditCards.available to true and now the autofill credit cards check box appears and I entered my credit cards.

How does changing extensions.formautofill.available from detect to on change the behavior? (I have multiple addresses.)

And why did I have to change the config file to enable this? Why wasn't the credit card autofill check box enabled from the start? Would it have been if I had downloaded and installed a fresh copy from the web site? I did install Firefox before autofill was added.

Thanks for your help.

All's well that ends well, then .....

Not everybody wants this feature enabled - hence you have the choice to enable it on the "about:config" page.

And where does the average user find that out? I shouldn't have to query a forum for this. The options should show the check box so that I can see the functionality that is available and use it if I choose to.

I'm just trying to make Firefox more user friendly.

This is one of the reasons why there is a support forum   .....

So many people have so many different wishes; if every wish had to be listed in Options, there wouldn't be room enough for anything else.

I'm just trying to make Firefox more user friendly.

Mozilla developers are trying their best to make/keep Firefox as user friendly as possible, but there just is no pleasing everyone.
