using containers
how do I employ the use of containers. have about 35 tabs in about 7 containers yet my tabs at top are still tiny and not grouped in any way ....

Containers are not hiding nor grouping tabs, just separaiting them physically and marking them with different colors.
You probably need some tab-grouping extension, try one of these:
