I can't get the trash folder to open and the repair folder always won't work

The trash folder indicates there are 170 items in it - how do I get the trash folder to open??? None of the options offered work. Even the repair tool won't open. Please and thanks.

Maybe you have an invisible list ?

Select the Trash folder. click on the far right column header selector icon. The drop down will offer a load of column header options click on 'reset columns to default' see image as guide
