I run Win7 x 64 Home with IE11 and have also been using a Firefox ESR version for years; I don't remember which version of it I had recently. For the last few days, Firefox had been 'overusing my Cpu' so when an update was announced today, I clicked the "What's New" button. Getting no information in the new tab, I foolishly updated anyway and got darkened tabs and changes to the address bar, things such as moving the reload button. I tried unsuccessfully to revert to an earlier 52.9 version and finally to this 60.0.1 version, but the changes remain. FWIW, I don't remember seeing any versions between those two, Anyway, I assume these changes aren't something normally adjustable in the Options, and don't see well enough to want to search everywhere for a solution. Can anyone shed some light on this matter, specifically explaining how to revert to the earlier format?

Below is a snip of the top of my page and a bit of the desktop on the left, the page showing the darkened tabs.

Hi, the version you had is out of date and a security risk as well as ver 61 where you are now. Please update to ver 62 by going to Help --> About.

Firefox can be customized a lot of ways, you can move the Controls where you would like them ( Note controls for Black is in here)

The New Tab page can be customized or turned off :

Can customize in over 250 million ways bu using userChrome ( Note userChrome was in Firefox before there was a google)

Can ask for code here or

So have a look around 1st.

When you are jumping around versions it would be best to start out correctly :

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 28.0 r0 by removing it with this tool : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html If you use it Reinstall with Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.154 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

I understand the Security situation and choose to ignore your advice. I also don't want Chrome. As I said, I don't see so well and get tired sitting here so would have appreciated more direct information to answer my specific question, rather than Another Mother to give me unwanted advice about unrelated subjects.

FWIW, I do have my profile information backed up...but that didn't stop the update from changing my system, and sometimes it's hard to remember how to do everything I need in the time I have.

Thanks anyway.

Flash has been disabled for years, and again, that didn't answer my specific question either. Sorry if I sound ungrateful, but I'm tired yet need to finish some work here anyway.

You jump to conclusion I did not offer you chrome, userChrome.css

You know a little politeness goes a long way towards getting what your looking for. Volunteer Support is not the creator of your problem.

I provided you with information on all the things you stated you were unhappy with but have you looked....no.

There was no suggestion to use the separate Google Chrome web browser.

userChrome.css is used as a way to change the appearance of Firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/userChrome.css

The web browser we know as Firefox started Sept 2002 as Phoenix 0.1 (then later Firebird then as Firefox at version 0.8 and on since). While the Google Chrome browser was Released six years later Sept 2, 2008. Even then the Chrome urls and such existed in Mozilla products for a decade plus before Google Chrome even existed.

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Glossary/Chrome

In a browser, the chrome is any visible aspect of a browser aside from the webpages themselves (e.g., toolbars, menu bar, tabs). This is not to be confused with the Google Chrome browser.
