After the last Firefox update (which is not the latest), I can no longer see posted images and videos in Windows 10. How can I get this facility back?

Posted

In the earlier versions of Firefox I had, I could see posted images and videos in various forums I visited. That is no longer the case. The computer uses Windows 10. I use manual updates to Firefox after a few times of automatic updates where I didn't like the results. I suppose it is possible that the automatic updates to Windows 10 might have had an effect, but I don't know what. I also don't know how to find out which version of Firefox I am currently running. I can only say it is not the latest, since I have refused to update for a few months now.

Hi, hold down the Shift key when you start Firefox to start in Safe Mode. More - Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode.

If it works in Safe Mode, disable any theme or extensions you have - 3-bar menu > Add-ons > Themes/Extensions and restart Firefox; then if it's OK, re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit. You may need to restart Firefox after enabling some extensions.

You are using v59.0, the latest is 61.0.1 https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/ You can check your version in several ways: Open the 3-bar menu > Options (General) - Firefox Updates. Or open the 3-bar menu > Help > About Firefox. Alternatively, you can press the Alt key to bring up the main menu bar > Help > About Firefox. More - Update Firefox to the latest release.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Make sure you are not blocking content.

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}
