Can't delete bookmarks from the toolbar; can only display 3 bookmarks
I can only add three bookmarks to the toolbar, and I can not delete any of those three (nor can I edit them to simply emulate the bookmarks I'd like to have there). Yes, I have read and followed the directions. No, they do not work. 61.0.1 (64-bit) Win10Pro v. 1803

Hi agrieshop, is the problem only with the Bookmarks Toolbar, or is Firefox unable to add bookmarks to the "Bookmarks Menu" or "Other Bookmarks" as well?
Before proceeding, you might want to back up your bookmarks. Or maybe there are too few to worry about? Your call. Firefox has two different formats, and I suggest creating both just in case.
- JSON "Backup" format: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
- HTML "Export" format: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks
The Troubleshooting Information page has a "Verify Integrity button to do a little light maintenance on the Places database (where bookmarks and history are stored). You can open that using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Then scroll way down or use Find to search for Integrity in the Places Database section. At first, nothing will seem to happen, but then several seconds after clicking the button Firefox should report some diagnostic results below it.
Any improvement? If not, you could copy/paste those results.
Somewhere to start, thanks!
I can add Bookmarks to the Bookmarks Menu, no problem (and I will back them up before proceeding).
What I cannot do is make any changes to the three bookmarks that I have added to the toolbar -- cannot move, delete, or edit them. They do work, but that's all they do.
And I can not add any more bookmarks to the toolbar. Dragging additional bookmarks shows where they would go, but they are not added.
I turned the toolbar off and back on. No change. (Didn't really think there would be....)
Let me give this a try, and I'll be back in touch asap. Thanks.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.
- use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
close and restart Firefox in case errors are reported and retry
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder
