My friend and I both experience lagging in the new firefox browser. He was typing in letters on a website, and said that he experienced the letters lagging as he was typing them in. For example, he would type in "I can see the house by the lake, and there is a parking lot next to the house" Now, as he is typing that, the letters slowly show up, and then everything kind of freezes, but roughly 2 to 3 seconds later, all the words he typed all suddenly show up, and then it will just do that constantly.

So, to help facilitate my moving over to quantum, the lagging issue needs figured out. Secondly, there is an add-on we both use, called Speed Dial. It was made by Josep Del Rio version number 0.9.6.18 and the website for that add-on is http://speeddial.uworks.net. The problem, is that in quantum the speed dial add-on that we use, is now in legacy, and doesn't work with quantum. So, if we can use that version of speed dial, and figure out the lagging issue, I'll gladly move to quantum. I like the idea of new, but when it doesn't work properly, it gets extremely frustrating. The other problem is you have the company saying how great things are, and then we are all stuck saying that it's not great, we explain our problems, but it's like they don't care. So sorry for the ranting but it just gets tiring after so long.

I'm not sure if this will help but my computer specs are: Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit 16 GB RAM AMD FX-8300 8 core @3.3 GHz GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 4 GB

My friends computer is much better than mine is and we can both easily run any web browser, so we're a little confused as to the lag we experienced with that browser.

HI, your friend should test his internet speed and see if is getting what they pay for : www.speedtest.net/

Each system is different, tell them to make a question and will try to help with the lagging.

Ok, so just because he has lagging does not mean you will. Every install is different.

As for Speeddial, no, they have not tried to make one for in new API but others have : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=Speeddial

Well here you are dealing with Firefox Support Volunteers, users like you so we try to get you to the full potential that Firefox has. I know some systems just refuse to like Firefox, for me and 3 systems not a problem right after the install or the update.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Let me give you a quick rundown of things to try when you have Firefox issues.

You can check for problems with sessionstore files in the sessionstore-backups folder in the Firefox profile folder. You can try to rename the sessionstore-backups folder to see if that has effect. You can try to delete sessionstore.jsonlz4 and sessionstore.js in the main profile folder. Make sure to close Firefox when you make these changes.

When sessionstore.jsonlz4 is deleted you lose pinned tabs and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
