Your ‘logged-in’ status is stored in special cookies. If the cookie is removed, you are logged out.

Profile data can be removed or not recorded several ways;

• 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
• 2) Privacy settings; (In the address bar, type about:preferences#privacy<enter>)
• 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
• 4) Mal-ware.

1) I'm not in Private Mode. 2) Nothing suspicious here. It says 'keep cookies until they expire'. 3) I use Avast and Malwarebytes Antimalware. All settings are fine, plus I always do bare bones installation of such programs and leave out 'cleanup' components such as Avast's 'Browser Cleanup'. 4) I've scanned with several programs (Avast, Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, Hitman) nothing comes up.

It just happened again. Thanks for trying to help, FredMcD. I've been using this browser since it came out but I think I'm done with it now.

It is possible that websites check the user agent and invalidate cookies when they notice a change in the user agent.

Every single one I was logged in. Youtube, Twitter, Twitch, Imdb, Steam, you name it.

It somewhat did but _only_ the very last time (I think this was the 5th time my cookies were lost). Plus, after the update everything worked, but later that day (after 1 or more system restarts) the logins were lost.

I sometimes have to log in to some websites again even in the same session.

More commonly I have to log in again when starting a new session. That applies to this site, gmail, keep and share keep and share, mozillazine mozillazine and yahoo mail.

I also have pasted the content of about:support.the content of about:support.

The problem happens without Firefox being updated. I am using a profile created specially for Firefox Quantum. Except for Yahoo, passwords are recorded in "site logins".

I believe I have solved this problem. I changed the settings for passwords.

The recommended setting (which I was using) is "Accept cookies and site data from websites (recommended)". I have adopted the alternative "Block cookies and site data (may cause websites to break)".

At the same time I made sure that the sites whose log-ins I want to retain are entered in the 'Exceptions' list.

Sorry, there seems to be no way to do that.

I tried something different a month ago and haven't experienced lost logins so far. In History settings I chose "Use custom settings for history", checked "Clear history when Firefox closes" and then clicked on the Settings button right next to it. I unchecked everything except "Cache".

Is cache even related to the saved logins?

I won't mark the issue as solved unless I'm pretty sure it's actually solved. I'll give it a few more weeks.

No cache is related to going to pages and looking at something, it will hold 350megs of various logos, headers , code so that pages load faster if go back to them before it getting written over with new data to hold.

If you use a cleaner program such as ccleaner if not setup properly will clean Firefox cookies out.

Note : you can go in and manually clean out cookies that you know are not logins. 5mins every few days. fyi :

It happened again, after about 40 days. So my cache "method" didn't work. I noticed that Firefox released 61.0.2 three days ago. I use this computer every day. Is it possible that I got the update just today and it messed up my cookies? Maybe it's the updating after all?

Is there a log somewhere that records the exact time the application was updated?

I found out Firefox has an "Update History" feature.

June 29 updated to 61.0, I lost my logins. July 6 updated to 61.0.1, nothing happened. August 10 updated to 61.0.2, lost my logins a day later.

So yeah... I don't know.

EDIT: I think I'll disable auto-updating for a month or two and see if it happens again.

Happened again, 8 days after disabling auto-updating. At this point I just uninstalled Firefox. Thanks everybody for trying to help.
