Look at this screenshot, and consider the fact that the Mozilla Crash Reporter always tells me "Report submitted successfully!", and do your best to tell me what you think is going on. I very much hope Firefox 60 and 61 Stable will bring about major improvements to the reliability of Firefox! It's my preferred browser on both my Dell Inspiron running Windows 10 and my iPhone 6s running iOS 11.3, and I'm really getting tired of it hesitating to follow such basic instructions as bookmarking a page about somewhere in New England I do enjoy exploring very much, especially when I become financially independent and move to a peaceful town near Boston, Mass. in the coming years. If there's anything Firefox needs more than anything else as of April 23, 2018, it's reliability improvements, especially in light of the fact that many other users on Windows 10 have been reporting frequent crashes with the latest version of Firefox Stable in recent and semi-recent weeks! I would be more than happy to volunteer any detail anyone with Mozilla needs to help me with my very recurrent and frustrating issues with Firefox! Lastly, I wonder if the Windows 10 April 2018 update will do anything to improve Firefox.

Here are screenshots of my two most recent crash reports I've submitted, or at least tried to submit to Mozilla this afternoon. Considering the very wide variety and number of related bugs there are to my crashes, I very much want most if not all of them to be fixed when I upgrade to Firefox 60 on May 9, 2018, the day it becomes the official stable version of Firefox on Windows!

Please do not use screenshots.

Note: No Modules were listed in the report

ShutDownKill sometimes means that the program gets stuck or does not shut down fully in a set period of time.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hi Tom, to share crash reports with us, you can paste the URLs to those reports on the crash stats server.

Did the "ShutDownKill" crash occur while you were closing the last tab in Firefox, or did it occur while you were actively browsing? Do you notice any pattern of when it occurs?

You mentioned:

I'm really getting tired of it hesitating to follow such basic instructions as bookmarking a page about somewhere in New England

Does Firefox crash when you try to add a bookmark, or is that a different issue -- what do you mean by "hesitating"?

Firefox does sometimes fail to cooperate when I press the star icon in the address bar to add a bookmark. I have to restart it a number of times, and submit yet another bug report if Firefox lets me do that. And at other times, it just quits and offers to send me a bug report with no explanation at all. As much as I love Firefox and Mozilla's mission for a free web for all, the stable version of Firefox 60 can't come soon enough. I expect major bug fixes in the upcoming stable version of Firefox, which I shall install on May 9, 2018 ASAP!

Sometimes "ShutDownKill" crashes occur when my Inspiron is completely frozen because of Firefox, sometimes it occurs when I'm actively browsing, and sometimes it occurs all of a sudden, when things seem to be working just right! I suspect there are a series of bugs leading to these problems.

For freezes, this article has suggestions that may or may not help: Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

I reset my PC, and everything, including Firefox, is performing much better now. If Mozilla would just focus on reliability improvements so I don't have to keep doing this!

That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
