Hello everybody,

If you for example want to create a new folder inside an account, you right-click on the account an click on “new folder”, an then a small windows pops up with a field for the folder name. But in my case the window immediately gets inactive an it is impossible to type characters in the field. What I can do is to change the entry of “Create as a subfolder of:” and “Cancel”

If I click on that “New Folder” window, it is for a few milliseconds active and if am very fast it is sometimes possible to type a single character in the field.

To make the things even worse, choosing a windows restore point from a few days ago, when thunderbird works fine, has no effect.

Thunderbird is running on W7x64.

Sorry if some terms are chosen wrong. I’m German and my system runs in German also.

a new folder where? Try it on local folders and see if it works there. It may be you have an IMAP mail account and your mail server does not support folders where you are wanting to create them.

It’s the same on the local folder. And yes, my mail server does support folders and subfolders.

It is a general problem with windows for settings. If I go to the account or tools settings the window gets inactive as well. Drop down menus are working but typing in fields is impossible.

The only Window that does not get inactive an typing is possible is the new or answering mails.

try holding the shift key while you start Thunderbird, and continue with add-ons disabled when prompted. Sounds like you might have an add-on that has gone bad.

That does not help. Safe mode also not. :-(

Finally I got it. The reason for this behavior was a tiny little tool called “AutoSizer”. It’s pretty helpful if you want the program windows in a defined position and size by a single shortcut.

Surprisingly only thunderbird does not work with it. The main window yes. But the dialog windows do have this strange behavior.
