To connect to the internet in a public hotspot I need to go through a disclaimer page. The exact URL for this page is often not known but it automatically came up whenever I tried to open an arbitrary http address. Unfortunately these days most addresses are https and with this the above scheme does not work anymore as firefox blocks pages where is cannot verify the certificate. Thus there needs to be an unsafe reload to circumvent the problem. Alas firefox does not allow this so I am frequently stuck :( I like the security features that firefox has over other browsers but there always should be a user override.
