When does Sync take effect?

Posted

So I started to use Firefox on Windows 10 but I recently moved Operating systems and when I signed in I didn't see anything happening even when I relaunched Firefox. This started to worry me because I have some important bookmarks and addons and I'm not the kind of guy who typically likes losing everything. So I was wondering if some of you people can answer these questions for me:

1. When does sync take effect?

2. Firefox was on a different PC at first until I moved PCs, Does it store my data from that Firefox to put it on this one?

3. Is your banana alive? Jk don't answer that one lol

Hi, 1) When you get a email confirming your registration and info a=with login details. Also it would apply to the previous OS and previous Firefox install as there is a token that is dropped. You are now missing the token.

2) Maybe if you had Sync'ed before.

3) it was until the monkey ate it.

So you make no mention of a 2nd device you are syncing to where you could recover your data from. It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.

If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of these article.

If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.
