Firefox hangs when fonts cache is being updated on Linux Mint 18.3

I'm on Firefox 60.0~b9 right now but the issue first I noticed in version 59 stable channel.

The hangs up happens when I execute `fc-cache -fv`

While the OS updating fonts cache, Firefox use of CPUs will jump up, the window lags and every other tab becomes blank with circular progress animation in the middle of the page. Some time I can't close the window by clicking the close button and have to do it from command line.

Edit: Saw there was an update to 60.0-b10. Updated. Added a new font and updated fonts cache. Firefox hung and pages became blank, but after font-cache was finished from being updated the tabs recover to normal again. I didn't observe this behaviour before because I would have just closed firefox process.

Have you tried running Firefox in Safe Mode? Type about:support in the address bar and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled....

I notice that you are using the Ubunut version of Firefox Beta. Have you also tried using a Mozilla version from here?

Hi Seburo.

I experienced the problem in stable channel, ESR, and in Beta. Though the last time it happened the tabs didn't stay blank. The tabs recover after font cache update was finished. I don't update font-cache too often, so it's not a constant annoyance. I'll just let it be for now.
