Is there a way to to identify read/unread tabs? ie different color text?

With multiple tabs opened I use to be able to tell which tabs I had not read yet. I believe it was an addon but it's no longer compatible with this version of Firefox. Any suggestions?

Hmm, you could have that back, but extensions might not be able to do it yet -- tab/toolbar customization capabilities are still very limited.

Custom style rules can modify the appearance of tabs based on details of the tab code. Firefox assigns these attributes that your rules could key off of:

  • unread="true" => tab was opened in the background in this session and not yet activated
  • pending="true" => tab restored from a previous session, not yet activated in the current session

The specific styling that works best with your theme will vary. A good site to request/suggest style rules to modify the toolbar area is:

https://www.reddit.com/r/FirefoxCSS/

The rules will go into a userChrome.css file. That is about a 10 minute project, and take your time to get it right the first time to avoid frustration.
