What a cluster muck. Dev edition update wiped out all my settings
Innocently said yes when FF said there was an update to the developer edition, so I said yes. Next thing I know, ONLY the developer edition will start, and all my bookmarks, addons and customizations are all gone. I have a synced version on another system in this same office, so I am in the process of recovering. Now I can't get logged in to my account on this new version. The other synced system is fine, so I changed the password there, hoping... But no, still can't login on this new version. What a disaster, just when I don't have time to mess with this. I see why so many people say stick with Chrome, this insanity doesn't happen there, or at least it's less often.

Sorry to hear that. It may have just created a new Profile as the other one was corrupted. You can look for it :

Now not fully versed on where what for Dev but I do know it shares my Firefox Bookmarks. (i had no trouble with updating).
It is always the best bet to backup which I suggest you do from the locked out Sync one before trying to get to Sync as it will then delete the bookmarks there also.
