At the moment...Do not compact folders especially the one which had the deleted emails.

Are the emails in the 'Trash' folder? If yes, you can move them back to the folder.

Is this a gmail account? If gmail, log on to webmail account via a browser and see if the emails are still in the 'AllMail' folder. If yes, you can put them back into eg: Inbox.

Is the empty folder in a POP or IMAP mail account ? I'm assuming you still have folder but it is empty. Please explain exact process you used to delete all emails from a folder. EG: did you use 'Ctrl+A' to highlight all emails and then click on 'Delete'?

Have you ever used Windows Search to look for emails or are you unsure?
