I don't know what the problem is. My bookmarks are deleted after updates. It did this continuously after the 57 update. I would manually backup my bookmarks before updating.. Then firefox updating was doing it job and not deleting them..

Firefox just updated to 58.0.2, My bookmarks are gone again. I went to restore bookmarks, No options. Did a *bookmark* search in windows file explorer and managed to find a recent file to backup.. However the recent update has also wiped out all my add ons as well. I always use the "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" because of these problems, but this last update ignored this setting.

Why is this happening ? Why does firefox not backup files before updating ? If it does why is it not easy to find and restore. Firefox needs to add a update dump file that allows users to restore and reinstall plugins, themes and bookmarks.

It's really aggravating, Had I not been able to find a recent bookmark file I would have completly abandoned firefox and switched to chrome. I don't like chrome, but after forced to use it because of my direct tv subscription, I'm starting to surrender to big G.

This is a basic function, please include it, add a menu option to restore data after update for your users.. Allowing users to check mark bookmarks, plugins and themes..
