Audio playback interrupted when Firefox CPU usage increases

Posted

When I have a video playing in the background (for example a Twitch stream) and use Firefox in a way that causes 100% CPU usage (for example navigating a Google Maps 360° view or scrolling a complex website excessively) I get interruptions and even repetitions of short bits of the playing sound. This issue started after updating to Firefox Quantum and is quite annoying. Is this a known issue? Any potential workarounds? I'm currently using 58.0.2 (64 bit) on Windows 10 16299.

[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode] {web link} by holding down the '''<Shift> ''(Mac=Options)''''' key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click '''Start In Safe Mode''' (not Refresh). Actually, it gets much worse. Twitch stream does not appear to be playable at all in safe mode. It interrupts every few seconds even without doing anything else.
