I am getting a SEC_ERROR_BAD_SIGNATURE in Firefox 58.0.2 that just started this morning. According to the Page Security tab I have visited the site 39,819 times. This is a site I use all day long every day here at work. I have gone through the Support Forum as best I can but can not find an answer that I can understand so I don't know if the answer is actually there or not. My Firefox version says it's 'up to date'; yes, I've restarted Firefox. I find no where to make an exception or any real direction except 'contact the site owner' which is not an option. Please help - I am not able to work but everyone else in the office is able to work with the site on Firefox as usual this morning.

I have checked the same site on Chrome and the security certificate is valid. See this screenshot from Chrome's secure view of the same site.

Now - all of a sudden is working fine again. No changes on my side, no changes on the website's side but now it's working again as usual. Is this something that can be avoided in the future? I've lost hours of work without a real way to resolve the issue in the future - other than 'just wait for it to clear up on its own?'

Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0 - NO, Shockwave is not on my system because itr is BLOCKED on my system!

Even if it is not active, a program that old should be removed or updated.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version 28.0.0.161

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

It might have been a corrupt file that was overwritten. If the problem should return;

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

Hi dejanekerr, if you suspect a temporary issue in the future, these steps might help:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Command+r to check progress.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

@jscher2000 - thank you for the suggestion. I had indeed cleared the cache and cookies before restarting the browser. No, it didn't help this morning. The system I guess cleared itself out on it's own because it randomly started working several hours later. Very frustrating. Thanks for trying...

@FredMcD - I am not following what you're suggesting might have happened. Are you saying if I have security software like these on my laptop that they might have sent their own certificate instead? If that's what you're saying then I don't think that's the case because I don't have security software on my laptop. Yes, gasp.... but I don't. Thanks for trying to help though...
