I keep trying to change my homepage (newtabpage) back to the thumbnails that were there before the update from 57 to 58, but something keeps changing my changes back. In the registry at browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.enabled I toggled false to true and that does it but only for an open tab. As soon as I open another tab it's right back to the ugly site icons I don't want. Also I can change the rows and columns to 2 and 4 so the page shows 8 sites, and only 8. That is what I want. Why will the changes I put in not stay now? They did before in the 57 browser. Are there more settings I need to change to make the other changes permanent? I'm on an HP laptop running Windows 8.1. Thank you.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
