When you are asked for your password have you tried clicking the little box in the dialog offering to save the password?

Check your settings. When you close Firefox, do not remove cookies.

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.

Thank you very much, Fred. I am sorry to bother you, but I have still two questions: 1. Do I have to close Firefox first? 2. Which address bar do you mean? I am just a layman. John

1. Do I have to close Firefox first?

First, change the settings. Then restart Firefox.

Some settings don't require the browser to be restarted for the new settings to take effect, but if you are not sure, restart.

2. Which address bar do you mean?

When we speak of the address bar or box, we mean the box where the current webpage address is displayed.

The other is the search bar or box.

I understand that I have to do: 1. Launch Thunderbird, 2. Launch Internet Explorer, 3. Type in the address box: about:preferences#privacy. But when I do so I get the message “Navigation to webpage cancelled”. Thank you for your patience with me.

I tried to enter the password, but unfortunately there is no button New. Therefore I tried also "File>New>Existing e-mailaccount". I filled in the boxes name, e-mailaddress, and password (they were all empty), but I got the message "Incoming server already exists". I don't dare to do more for fear to lose all my e-mails. If I am asking too much, please tell me. I don't want to burden you.

I couldn't follow the instructions because the list of saved passwords is totally empty. That makes it impossible to right-click on the server's entry from the list and click Edit Username or Edit Password.

Good morning! I didn't try it before, but i tried it now, and with success! To launch Thunderbird I don't need anymore to fill in my password and my password is now in the list of saved password. To send a message I had to click another time the little box. Problem solved! Thank you very much, and I also thank Fred.
