Why did you change your browser to such an almost useless engine?

I have used Mozilla for a very long time and it's been great until this recent change. Now it's terrible, nearly useless. I could actually find the things I wanted quickly and easily before this recent change. Now I search and search and finally get so frustrated I simply close it and do something else. I guess I'll start looking for something else!

Hi crdaniels, on Windows, Firefox uses Google now (at least in my neck of the woods). What site is Firefox using on your system?

One possible culprit for search engine hijacking would be an extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

Then you may need to reset your default search engine: Change your default search settings in Firefox.

Any improvement?

Or, if you meant that the user interface has changed too much in Firefox 57-58, what are you looking for?

I keep finding new websites that don't work on FIREFOX so I end up having to move over to CHROME. I have used FIREFOX for years but am getting ready to switch most of my browsing over to CHROME which is just easier to use.

Hi pennbeth

Could you please start a new thread for your question?

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions/plugins.
