Cursor goes to address bar not search box in new tab.

I cannot get the cursor to go to the search box instead of the address bar. The add-on extension I see referenced DOES NOT fix this. It merely allows me to have google.com as my new tab main page. That is not the problem. I have already set google.com as my homepage with the extension. I don't want to have to click on the search box to look something up.
