Binary Component: false

My objective is to enable the LastPass binary component to the FF LastPass extension. The binary component makes certain functionality, such as adding attachments to LastPass secure notes, possible.

With FF open, and from the LP "about" tab, I click the "install binary component" button. The 29MB .exe file downloads. I close FF. I run the .exe as administrator. I log in to my LP account as prompted.

The installation dialog indicates it will enable the binary component for IEX, Chrome, and FF. (Note, the LP binary extension already is operating in Chrome on my system, after I had enabled 'native messaging' in Chrome, as specified by LP documentation. It appears my attempts to enable the binary component have succeeded in Chrome, but not yet in FF).

I proceed with installation of the binary component. I disable the option to log in to LP each time the browser opens, and disable the option to keep a history of form fills. I accept the option to send error reports to LP. I accept the option to import unsecured passwords that LP has found on the computer. Installation proceeds.

. . . and then it just keeps installing. After a minute or so I get the following message: "Installation is taking longer than normal. Would you like to continue waiting?" After replying "yes," the installation procedure resumes, only to pause again after about a minute and give me the same message again. After a few "yes" replies and never getting past the warning message, I finally choose "no" and the whole installation stops.

At this point I check the LP "about" tab in FF, and the binary component indicator remains "false."

How do I break through this blockade? If I can't get get FF to allow LP's binary extension to install, it's going to have be bye-bye Firefox, I'm afraid.
