Hello,

I am a new Mozilla Firefox Quantum 57 user and my mouse won't select a Flash chat application user:

- I am on Windows 7-64-bit platform. - I've updated Adobe Flash Player to its latest version. - I empty my cash memory before every use of Firefox. - I've tried to uninstall, reboot and reinstalled, without success.

I work from home and am using a web interface which uses a flash chat system. When I try to select a chat user from the chat messages window, my mouse won't select it. Therefore, I cannot connect with the chat users in the Flash chat application.

Do you have a solution for me?

Thank you!

Sylvia.

Hello,

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).

To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

  1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
  2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
  3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
  4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
  5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
  6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
  7. Restart Firefox.

This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

Hello Mkll,

Thank you for your quick response!

It made a difference but only partly, here are my explanations:

1-) I followed the instructions and unchecked the "enable hardware acceleration" as suggested form the "Adobe Flash Player Help Page". I restarted Firefox. After this operation, I could select a Flash chat user in my work session. But, when I disconnected from my work session and reconnected again, it did the same thing as before, meaning my mouse did not select the chat user I was aiming for. 2-) So I went back on the "Adobe Flash Player Help Page" and checked the "enable hardware acceleration", restarted Firefox and it worked for this session. As soon as I disconnected, and reconnected again, same problem, the mouse won't select. 3-) So I went back on the "Adobe Flash Player Help Page" and unchecked the "enable hardware acceleration", restarted Firefox and it worked for this session. Again, as soon as I disconnected, and reconnected, same problem, the mouse won't select. 4-) I have to check restart and uncheck restart in between my sessions.

Would you happen to have another solution?

Thank you,

Sylvia.
