Why am I being asked to download Firefox? I have HAD Firefox forever!
The apps menu shows up in pocket, and when I'm clicking I'm asked to download Firefox. And why is the apps menu listed under pocket address rather than mozilla? And why isn't the Mozilla toolbar showing automatically? It only appears if I ask a question.
It's not working right. Why does the interface have to keep changing all the time, and why can't I keep my apps? My memory is not so good and I can't remember why these things happened or what I might have done to cause it. I just know that I had too many searches listed, and when I shut down the computer so I could clean them out and get rid of moste of them now nothing runs right.
Since Firefox changed to Quantum now I don't know what is okay or not okay. I just know that I can't get into YouTube or use my comptuer. Why can't things be stable? I'd like the icons of the 3 dots, the pocket icon and the star (bookmark) icon to show up on the toolbar all the time, that I can use it without having to summon up Mozilla to ask a question. How do I keep it to stay there? Why does this interface always have to be changing? It's bad enough that it has to change every so many years, without it changing every day. I just want to be able to get into YouTube and to be able to forward links to myself or anybody else and have the 'email link' listed somewhere that I can get to it quick up on the toolbar without having to go through a lot of crap. Firefox worked 800 percent better before you guys changed it all around. I'm being asked to share data for troubleshooting information but I'm afraid to do that for fear this might be a big hack or virus. I've had the think lined mozilla lettering mixed in with Firefox now ever since Quantum and I no longer know what to suspect or not. I don't know why all the entire interface should be changed and simple apps taken away and the computer not to run right anymore and call this an improvement. I'm not clicking on the 'share data' for that reason, because I honestly don't know if I'm talking to a hacker or to Mozilla.
Additional System Details
- Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0
- User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Also most of my history got deleted, and I didn't delete it. Every single YouTube visit was deleted from my histeory.
Hello, the page action menu (3 dots), Pocket icon, and Bookmark Star only appear when you are on a web page, and not one of Firefox's internal pages -- such as about:newtab, or about:preferences.
To turn off data sharing, go to about:preferences#privacy by typing it in your URL bar, and then scroll down until you see Firefox Data Collection and Use. Un-check all the boxes under Firefox Data Collection & Use to opt out.
As for the "Mozilla Toolbar" do you mean the menu bar? To enable that, click on the 3 line menu (hamburger menu) and then click on Customize (10th menu item), click on Toolbars, and from the drop down menu, click on Menu Bar.

This does solve my problem described. Thank you.
I do have another problem tho. Google now owns my searches. Before I was able to choose anybody to do a search, and Google did not own all the searches. But now Google is the only one. Is this the new way that Quantum is doing business? Just wondering. Such a lot of changes, and I’m not good with maintenance. I hate taking my computer into the shop – because they don’t know what they are doing either and they lose my pictures and make a mess of my computer. There are so many people these days that don’t know what they are doing but are ready to step in and charge you a lot of money but don’t know what the heck they are doing.
Just wondering if you might have a quick and easy answer to this one. Thank you for helping me make sense of the changes on my interface.
Hello, you can choose your preferred search engine by going to about:preferences#search and choosing it from the drop down list. and it's quite simple to add other search engines.
This doesn't solve my problem because I do want to use Google, but I don't want to give Google carte blanch over my searches. Yahoo used to be the default search engine, and that was fine. Google was just one of many other search engines I could choose as my fancy told me. That's the way I like to use Google, not to give Google any rights over my browser.
These changes to Firefox are making my computer less secure. Why would anybody want to hand the keys over to Google?
Try using ixquick.com its google results, but without the tracking.
