Every time I close Firefox (doesn't matter how I close it), I get TWO pop-ups that say "Firefox has stopped working"

Every time I close Firefox, I get TWO pop-ups, the second appearing right after I close the first. They both say "Firefox has stopped working".

It doesn't matter if I close Firefox by the "X" in the corner, or click File ¦ Exit, or if I just close every tab (closing the last tab closes Firefox).

I tried it with Add-Ons disabled. Same thing.

I did a Refresh of Firefox. Same thing.

I have it on several other machines (and several operating systems), this is the only one it does this on, yet I have the same setup, the same add-ins, etc. This one is running Windows 7.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Chosen solution

  • Replaced the Video drivers (Intel AND Nvidia) as specified above. No joy.
  • Uninstalled and deleted folder as specified above. No joy.

--- On my own, closed one icon at a time from icon tray, then opening and closing firefox with each closure. Eventually found that LastPass for Applications was causing the crashes. Uninstalled same. No more crashes.

Note: Affected PC is Win7 corporate box, and they do not always install updates in a timely manner. On all my personal boxes (all Win 10), LastPass for Applications does not cause this issue.

If can update them please do, very important in New Firefox

adapterDescription: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630

adapterDescription2: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

driverDate: 7-22-2014

driverDate2: 3-16-2015 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

Try this and see if improves anything since have tried Safe Mode and Refresh

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
