Tabs keep crashes on MacOS Sierra after a reinstall of Firefox

If I disable multi-process by setting "autostart.2 = false", then Firefox works normally. If it's true, every tab crashes whenever it's opened, always. I've tried wiping every trace of firefox or mozilla from my computer, rebooting, installing Firefox anew from the .dmg, but it still happens.

The strange thing is, multi-process was working yesterday (I could see the worker processes in Activity Monitor). I have no idea what has changed on my system that would cause it to stop working. For now, I have to use Firefox without multi-process.

Here are some of my crash reports tonight:

Note that if I start Firefox from the terminal, I see this:

EXC_BAD_ACCESS / KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS

Have noticed that it could be video card related and of course can not update drivers but... Please turn off hardware acceleration https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration#w_turning-off-hardware-acceleration

Please disable all your Extensions except your Firewall and run and see what happens. As previous Answers this was included as a Issue. The issue could be a the Extension Firewall it self.

So pick it and run it..

Go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Help ? --> Troubleshooting Information Page and take a look in the Accessibility section if accessibility is set to "true" there. if yes, go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

Doing that to turn off processes is not needed or recommended anymore. You could try this please only if the above does not work

Go the Menu then Tools --> Options --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 0 = No Multi-proccesor = slow again. Hardware Acceleration might have also been a issue so turn it off. Run it later and see as you turn things back on and test it, and again. Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Disabling video acceleration had no effect either way. Only changes "autostart.2" seems to affect things.

I don't have a "Tools --> Options" submenu on macOS.

When I restart in Safe Mode, all of the tabs are completely blank, though I can see a flash of the crashed tab page before it blanks out.

hi, are you running sophos security software on the affected device? we're tracking this problem in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1404298 - setting "security.sandbox.content.level" to 1 instead of totally disabling multiprocess-firefox apparently also helps against this crash.

more options

No, not running any security or anti-virus software.

more options

"setting "security.sandbox.content.level" to 1", rather than disabling multi-process, did stop the tabs from crashing.

What happened when did this, you make no mention.

It says "Activated: false".

more options

The option to prevent accessibility services is unchecked.
