The new Firefox is terrible, c cannot change the various colors, cannot see text on your backgrounds, the various arrows like those on Amazon do not show, the "go" on a search window does not showup, various items in preferences indicate a person can change them but when you click on them to change nothing happens, Truly liked the old version the new is absolutely unusable

This is an option;
First, Type about:preferences#advanced<enter> in the address bar. Under Advanced, Select Update.
[v57+] Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. Select Update.
Select Never Check For Updates.
Also turn off Use a background service to install updates
Install Older Version Of Firefox {web link} Be sure to read everything here.
If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.
You should also check out Firefox; Extended Support Release {web link} ESR Notes System Requirements
FredMCD thanks for the reply it does not work, I restored the Firefox to the older version that work for the short term about four hours, then even though I marked the preferences NOT to automatically install updates etc Firefox updated the older version to the new 57.0 version and the same problems showed up. Firefox should not field new versions if they were not tested and check thoroughly to work properly The new version is absolute junk!
It wasn't my imagination, was it? Firefox 57 is ignoring user settings to not update AND DOING IT ANYWAY.
Did you follow all the instructions about the update settings?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
My Firefox was set to not update without permission.
It updated without permission. That's all I can tell ya.
Odd. Try installing the ESR version.
Already did. Backed it up too, so if Mozilla decides to update it out permission again, the update can be flushed again.
