How do I get rid of the blue url bar?

About 2 or 3 versions of Firefox ago, I used to be able to type a few letters in the URL bar and (only) my bookmarks containing those letters would show up. I could then just hit 'enter' and the top (most commonly or recently used) bookmarked site would open. Now there is this annoying blue search bar that I cannot seem to get rid of. I have tried numerous changes in about:config related to URLB with no success. I now have to move the mouse down to the top bookmark, below this annoying blue bar, and click the url I want. Help please.
